Ragi Dosa / Idlis

Ingredients:
Finger Millet (Ragi flour) 1 cup
Urad daal 1/2 cup
Oil
Salt to taste
Soak urad daal for 2 hours and grind it to a very smooth paste. Soak ragi flour for 15 minutes in water. Mix the soaked flour with the daal batter and make it to a regular dosa batter consistency. Add salt and mix well. Leave it overnight for fermentation so that the batter rises well. This batter can be used for preparing dosas as well as ragi idlis. Both taste well.
For adults, you can make ragi dosa more tasty by adding finely chopped onions, some green chillies and coriander leaves too.

1 1/2 cup flour (maida)
1 cup sugar
100 gms butter
1 cup grated carrot
1 spoon baking pdr.

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and put it in a greased steel bowl. Put the bowl in a pressure cooker with one glass water in it without whistle. Steam it for 30-40 minutes.
I tried this cake recipe myself today and it came out to be wonderful.

Egg Pudding

2 eggs,
1 cup milk ,
2 tbsp sugar,
a pinch of cardamom powder

Mix all the ingredients in a vessel and mix well with a beater. Put that vessel in a pressure cooker with one glass water in it without whistle. Steam it for 15 to 20 minutes. After it cools, put in the refrigerator for twenty minutes so that it sets well.
This recipe is very good for babies as it will help them put on weight. Some kids do not relish eggs. So, this is the best option to feed them eggs. They will surely love it.

Healthy Mix Recipe

1 cup whole wheat flour
2 tbsp. ghee
1/4 cup mixed dry fruits
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 cup milk

Dry roast the dry fruits on slow flame and powder it. keep it aside. Then dry roast the flour in a thick-bottomed vessel on slow flame till it changes colour slightly and you get a nice aroma. Then add ghee to it and keep stirring. Add the dry fruit mix to it and keep stirring till it starts giving a nice aroma and changes colour. But be careful not to let it burn. Then remove from fire and let it cool. Store in airtight containers. Before giving to your baby, add little sugar and lukewarm milk.

I use to make it with home-made ghee for my son as it is more healthy. And usually substituted sugar with honey or jaggery, which are healthy options again. When my son was small, I used to make a mixture of Finger Millet (ragi flour), Pearl Millet (bajra flour), Barley (jau flour), Roasted Gram (bhuna chana), roasted Rice, roasted Mixed Dry Fruits and little roasted Ground Nuts (mung phalli) ground altogether. And stored it in airtight boxes. Do not use rice puffs and rice flakes instead of rice. And most importantly when adding dry fruits, make sure that they should be in small quantity or else it causes loose motions for kids. Glad to share this with you all.

This soup is a good option for children up to 7-8 yrs. as children usually give a hard time eating vegetables.

Ingredients:

1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp. sugar
bread slices
butter

Mix altogether, egg, milk and sugar. Beat them well. Cut the bread slices into two pieces or 4 equal sized suitable for the baby to hold and eat, if your baby eats by themselves. This is really yummy. My Mom used to make it for us. And I really loved it always. You can serve it as an appetiser also when you have guests. It's quick to make and equally tasty. Yes, but then don't forget to add a pinch of orange colour to make it look more attractive. And adjust the sugar according to your taste. Have fun.

Chocolate Banana Bread

Ingredients:

100 gms white butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 cup chocolate chopped
1/2 cup roasted walnuts chopped
2 ripe bananas
2 eggs
vanilla essence
brown sugar (to sprinkle)

Melt the butter in a pan. When it cools, add the sugar, eggs, mashed bananas, essence and mix well. Sieve together flour, cocoa, baking powder and baking soda. Fold into the egg-banana-butter mixture. Fold gently and do not over mix or banana bread will become tough. Add the walnuts and the chopped chocolate and mix until well distributed. Scrape(yes, scrape...this is not a flowing batter) the batter onto a greased pan, sprinkle with brown sugar and bake at 150 degrees until risen and a toothpick comes out clean.

This one is my son's favourite . It's really simple to make, and the result is rather good! I'm sure you'll be making this again and again because your little one will definitely like it, and because others all the time will be requesting you to make it!!! This is a really fantastic recipe!! Its a must try! I've made it about 7 or 8 times and each time it gets better!! Lemme know how it turned out!!
