Healthy Mix Recipe

1 cup whole wheat flour
2 tbsp. ghee
1/4 cup mixed dry fruits
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 cup milk

Dry roast the dry fruits on slow flame and powder it. keep it aside. Then dry roast the flour in a thick-bottomed vessel on slow flame till it changes colour slightly and you get a nice aroma. Then add ghee to it and keep stirring. Add the dry fruit mix to it and keep stirring till it starts giving a nice aroma and changes colour. But be careful not to let it burn. Then remove from fire and let it cool. Store in airtight containers. Before giving to your baby, add little sugar and lukewarm milk.

I use to make it with home-made ghee for my son as it is more healthy. And usually substituted sugar with honey or jaggery, which are healthy options again. When my son was small, I used to make a mixture of Finger Millet (ragi flour), Pearl Millet (bajra flour), Barley (jau flour), Roasted Gram (bhuna chana), roasted Rice, roasted Mixed Dry Fruits and little roasted Ground Nuts (mung phalli) ground altogether. And stored it in airtight boxes. Do not use rice puffs and rice flakes instead of rice. And most importantly when adding dry fruits, make sure that they should be in small quantity or else it causes loose motions for kids. Glad to share this with you all.
