The Ant And The Dove

An ant went to the river to drink some water. But while drinking water, the ant fell in the river. The ant was crying for help. When suddenly a dove who was sitting on a nearby tree saw the ant struggling for life. The dove quickly plucked a leaf from a tree and threw it down in the river. The ant climbed the leaf immediately and thanked the dove for saving it's life.

The ant thought, "Dear God, please bless the dove for saving my life. If I do get a chance, I'll repay the dove for it's kind deed."

Several days later, the ant saw a hunter spreading a net in order to catch the dove.

The ant remembered how the dove had saved her life and thought maybe this is a chance from the Almighty to repay the dove. And then without wasting another moment the ant bit the hunter's foot very very hard.

The hunter screamed in pain and dropped his net. Hearing the noise, the dove quickly flew away.

The Two Pots

There were two pots, one of brass and one of clay. One day because of tide they both fell in the river and went along with the stream.
The brass pot was afraid that the clay pot may break down. So, the brass pot said, “ Do not fear. Come close to me clay pot. And I will take you safely to the shore. “
“Thanks a lot for trying to help me. But if I do come close to you and by mistake, I hit you or you hit me, I will break down. So, it’s better that we swim at some distance so that we are safe.”, said the clay pot.

Unity Is Power

Once upon a time in a village, there lived a father and his eight sons. They worked in their field from early morning till late evening, very hard and lived happily. But the father was very sad that his children used to fight among themselves always, even for small reasons. The father advised the children and asked them to live in love but the sons could not keep their promise for long and they used to end up fighting always. One day the clever father, decided to teach the sons a lesson. He called everyone to him.

He had a bundle of sticks in his hands. Then he called the eldest son and asked him take one stick from the bundle and break it. He took a stick and could easily break it. Then the father asked him to take two sticks and asked the son to break them together. He could do that easily. And the next time he could break even three sticks together. Now the father asked the son to take the entire bundle of sticks and break it holding together. But this time it was a hard task and one by one all the eight sons tried their hands; but no one could break it.

Now the father asked the children: "Did you understand the lesson behind this"?

This lesson was enough for them to understand that they should be united rather than fighting all the time.

The Thirsty Crow

It was a hot summer day. There was a crow who was very thirsty.
He searched flying around here and there for water but was unable to find water anywhere.
After flying for long, the crow finally found a big earthen pot. He flew quickly and looked in it. The pot had a little water inside it. Unfortunately, the crow was unable to reach the water and drink it.
He started looking around. The crow saw some small stones lying on the ground. Seeing the stones, the crow got an idea. He picked up the stones one by one in with his beak and dropped them into the pot.
Slowly, the water in the pot started rising. The crow then drank the water and flew away.

The Sour Grapes

Once a hungry fox was passing by a vineyard. He noticed a juicy bunch of grapes on a grapevine.
He jumped. But he could not get them. Again, he jumped to reach them, but as much hard he tried, he could not reach the grapes.
Tired of trying again and again, he said to comfort himself, "The grapes look sour. And who would like to have sour grapes."

The Hare And The Tortoise

Tortoise racing hare

Once upon a time a tortoise and a hare had an argument about who was faster. They decided to settle the argument with a race.
They agreed on a route and started off the race. The hare started off ahead & ran briskly for some time. Then, seeing that he was far ahead of the tortoise, he thought he would sit under a tree for some time and relax before continuing the race.
He sat under the tree and soon fell asleep. The tortoise slowly continued on and overtook him. He soon finished the race and surprised everyone by winning it.
The hare woke up and realized that he had lost the race.

The Two Goats

There was a very narrow bridge connecting two high mountain tops. One day, a goat came along and wanted to go across the bridge to the other side of the mountain. The goat started walking over the narrow bridge. At the same time, another goat started crossing the bridge from the other end. The two goats came face to face in the middle of the bridge. As,the bridge was narrow, the two goats could not go past one another. The second goat spoke rudely to the first goat: "Get out of my way, you silly goat! I am in a hurry to go to the other side."
The first goat replied: "I was first to step on to the bridge and therefore I have the right to cross the bridge first."
The second goat replied angrily: "I am the strongest goat here. I have never lost a fight with other goats. Either you quickly get out of my way or else…!"
The two goats started fighting. Suddenly, the first goat said: "If we both fight like this we will fall down in the river and die. I have a better idea. Let me sit on this bridge with my head down so that you can slowly and carefully step over my back and cross over. I will then get up and be on my way." Thus, the two goats crossed the bridge safely.
